Sportsbooks still sponsor far more creator videos than prediction markets. The gap is closing quickly.

In the week of July 27, prediction-market companies appeared in 225 sponsored videos. In the week of September 28 they appeared in 967, more than four times as many.

Both sides grew. One grew much faster.

This is not a story of sportsbooks pulling back. Sportsbook and DFS brands appeared in 1,864 sponsored videos in the week of July 27 and 2,257 in the week of September 28, an increase of about a fifth as football season began.

Prediction markets grew from a much smaller base, and much faster. In late July they sponsored about one video for every ten from sportsbooks and DFS brands. By late September it was about four.

When it changed

The climb was steady rather than sudden. Prediction-market volume passed 400 videos a week in mid-August and 700 in early September. It has stayed above 900 a week since the week of September 21.

Sportsbook and DFS volume moved in a much narrower range over the same ten weeks, between about 1,800 and 2,300 videos a week.

Why it matters

Creator sponsorship has been one of the main ways sportsbooks and DFS apps reach sports fans online. Prediction markets are now a large and growing presence in the same space, in the same weeks and around the same games.

For sportsbook marketers, that means more competition for attention in the videos their customers watch. For prediction markets, it shows how quickly they have scaled. For anyone pricing creator sponsorships, there are now more buyers for the same audience than there were in July.

These figures cover ten weeks at the start of the football season, so some of the growth is seasonal. Spotlight will keep reporting whether the ratio holds once the season settles.
